Beginner’s Guide: How to play Monopoly Go

The objective of Monopoly Go is to be the first player to build a landmark. Landmarks consist of four blocks of the same color. There is no cash or properties.

1. Place all the landmark blocks in the game tray at the center of the table.
2. Shuffle the chance tiles and place them face down on the table.
3. Each player takes a mini-board and picks one side to use with the colored corner spaces. Determine your color, take the matching Monopoly head, and place it on the start of your Mega Shutdown tracker.
4. Give each player a reference card and token, which they place on their own board’s start space.
5. Pick a player to go first, then proceed clockwise.

Gameplay

1. On your turn, roll all the players’ dice in the game tray.
2. Each player moves their token clockwise around the board as indicated by their matching color die.
3. When you land on a color space, take a matching landmark block from the tray, if possible, and place it on an empty building spot on your board or a spot of the same color. If no matching block is available, advance your Monopoly head one space on the Mega Shutdown tracker.
4. If multiple players land on the same color but there aren’t enough blocks, the first player to land gets the block.

Special Spaces

• Go to Jail: Move your token to the “In Jail” space and do not move during your next dice roll.
• Free Parking: Nothing happens.
• Bank Heist: After all players place blocks, challenge an opponent. Both choose one of three images from the Bank Heist dial. If you pick the same image, steal a block from their board or return it to the tray. If different, nothing happens.
• Shutdown: After all players place blocks, activate a shutdown by removing a block from any player’s board and returning it to the tray.
• Chance: Take one of the face-down chance tiles. There are four types:
  • Money Bag: Take any color block from the tray. If impossible, do nothing.
  • Shield: Protects you once from a shutdown.
  • Mr. Monopoly: Move your Monopoly head one space to the right on your Mega Shutdown track.
  • Go Button: Perform any action as if you landed on Go.

Winning the Game

• When your Monopoly head reaches the far right of your Mega Shutdown tracker, after everyone has completed their actions for the turn, you may choose any block color. All other players must discard their blocks of that color to the tray.
• The first player to stack four blocks of the same color wins and ends the game

Importance of Dice in Monopoly Go Gameplay

Dice are central to gameplay in Monopoly Go because they determine how far a player’s token moves on the board: 

• Movement
  • The number rolled on the dice determines how many spaces a player can move. 
• Strategy
  • The outcome of each roll affects a player’s strategy and potential earnings. 
• Surprise
  • The randomness of dice rolls makes each game unique. 
• Advancement
  • The more dice a player has, the more often they can roll and advance, increasing their chances of landing on high-value properties.

How to Trade Stickers and Complete Collections

In Monopoly Go, you can trade stickers to complete collections and earn rewards. After completeing the collection, you will get free dice, tokens, and other freebies as bonus. To trade stickers, follow these steps:

1. Open your Sticker Album
2. Select the Sticker You Want to Trade
3. Tap the Send to Friends Button
4. Choose a Friend to Send the Sticker to
5. Turn on the Make an Exchange Toggle to Propose a Trade
6. Send the Request

Tips for Trading Stickers

Trading stickers is a fun way to complete your collections, but there are a few important things to keep in mind:

Only duplicate stickers can be traded.
You can only trade stickers that you have more than one of, so check your collection before attempting a trade.

You can trade up to five stickers per day.
Be mindful of your daily limit when planning your trades. Keep track of how many you’ve exchanged each day.

It’s best to trade with people you trust.
If you’re trading with someone new, consider sticking to sticker exchanges to avoid any confusion or potential issues.

Always double-check the sticker you’re receiving.
Before confirming the trade, make sure the card you receive is the exact sticker you requested from the other player.

You can earn stickers in Monopoly Go through various activities:

• Finishing Quick Wins: Earn stickers by completing Quick Wins tasks.

• Finishing in the Top 10 in a Tournament: Earn stickers for achieving a top rank in tournaments.
• Spinning the Color Set Wheel: Get stickers by spinning the Color Set Wheel.
• Receiving Gifted Stickers: Get stickers as gifts from friends.
• Buying Sticker Packs: Purchase sticker packs to receive new stickers.

• Access: You can visit the Bank of Monopoly multiple times throughout the game as long as you keep completing boards. Your map will show you when it’s available. 
• Completion: Once you’ve filled the banner with prizes, you’ll finish the board and move on to the next board. You’ll also see another chance at the Bank of Monopoly ten boards further on. 
• Updates: Make sure you have the latest version of Monopoly Go installed on your device. Updates often include bug fixes and new features.
